The Preliminary Task was to come up with a 1 minute sequence to prove that we can do 4 key filming techniques. These 4 filming techniques were:
Continuity Editing Editing used to maintain continuous and clear narrative actions so that shot sequences flow seamlessly into each other without distracting the audience. 180 Degree Rule A rule in cinematography where two characters in a scene should keep the same left-to-right relationship to one another, whilst not crossing the imaginary line between connecting the two characters together. If the camera crosses over the axis, then it is called 'crossing the line' and it confuses the audience because the viewer will become disoriented and lose track of time and space between the two characters. Shot Reverse Shot A film technique where one character is looking at another character, and then cutting to the other character looking back at the first character. This is mostly used in conversations between characters because it is an efficient and time-saving method. Match on Match Action This is an edit when it cuts from one shot to another view that matches first shot's action. An example is somebody walking up to door and reaching for the handle to open the door.
